The special edition and collaborative footwear releases of the early and mid '00s exert a special grip on the collective imagination of the contemporary sneaker landscape. The culture, as we know it today, was beginning to catch on with a larger audience, but the technology allowing for instantaneous, fingertips access to product hadn't quite taken shape yet. The result was a lot of memorable shoes with high visibility and limited access.
One such shoe was a circa 2006 Air Max 1, the 'Lemonade.' Part of a 56-shoe Powerwall pack celebrating three decades of Air technology, this Air Max 1 featured a leather and mesh upper, covered in retro 1970s style 'Air' logos, with a citrus wedge tongue logo providing the kind of detail that obsessives salivate over years later.
In 2020, the design is resurrected in all its glory, with a fresh batch of Lemonade.
